Richardson House — Recreational Activities

At Richardson House our Recreational Activity Officers (RACs) are available to make our residents' time with us entertaining and enjoyable.

Recreational Activities Officers

Our RACs always look forward to getting to know the residents. They are available from Monday – Friday for 6 hours a day to manage recreational activities that are based on our residents' needs and desires.

The Richardson House RAC's make a huge effort to ensure that there is always something happening at Richardson House from themed days such as Fruity Thursday, to annual events such as Anzac Day and our Seniors Week celebration garden party.  We'd also like to note that they are not afraid to don a fancy dress outfit to make our theme days complete.

Types of Activities

Our activities calendar is designed with the interests of our residents at heart. Bingo is always a popular choice as is colouring in.  Mondays see our local singing group led by the fabulous Marti Unwin come in and stretch their vocal chords and our residents are able to either join in or sit and enjoy.  Our male residents are able to attend the local Men's Shed and a group of craft ladies come in on Fridays for some craft and a chat.

Here at Richardson House we also have regular gentle exercise sessions which keep our residents limber and help to prolong their independence.  Not to mention it is great fun!

Recreation Officers

Here at Richardson House we are lucky to have the most enthusiastic Recreational Officers on the planet.  Our Recreation Officers plan everything from day to day activities such as Bingo, exercise, craft and happy hour to our special days such as our Seniors Week celebrations, St Patricks Day, Easter and Christmas parties.  These girls throw themselves head first into everything and are always more than happy to don a fancy dress outfit to compliment the occasion.

Our Recreation Officers not only organise group activities but also take the time to spend one on one time with individual residents to ensure their personal interests are catered for.
